– Fancy Shape

 Fancy shape are subjective in defining its beauty, it is as unique as the individual who chooses a fancy cut diamond. Cutting patterns are categorized into three basic types, brilliant cut is the kite and triangular shaped facets, step cut is the straight parallel cutting on the crown and pavilion to the girdle and mixed cut is the combination of brilliant and step cut. All three styles have its own way to produce the most brilliance, fire and sparkle. Fancy shape could be classic and fashionable at the same time, as timeless classic never go out of fashion.

Asscher

Asscher cut is step cut diamond and octagonal in shape. It is similar to a square emerald cut but with larger step facets, relatively smaller table and higher crown, which produces more brilliance and fire. The classic asscher cut is a square like diamond, the length to width ratio should be around 1.00. A ratio above 1.10 is preferable if looking for a slightly rectangular shape. Any ratio of 1.05 or less will appear square to the naked eye.

Cushion

Cushion cut combines a square cut with rounded corners, looks like a pillow. Cushion can be either a square or rectangular shaped. The most popular shape is a slight rectangle of 1.10-1.30 length to width ratio. And square would be 1.00-1.05.

Emerald

Emerald cut is created by the step cut style. It has broad, flat faceted step cutting with large and open table. Emerald can be either a square or rectangular shaped. The classic length to width ratio is around 1.20-1.70, but for a more square like would be around 1.00. Any ratio of 1.05 or less will appear square to the naked eye.

Heart

Heart is a modified brilliant cut diamond. It is a special and unmistakable symbol of love. Heart shape diamonds are very popular in solitaire jewelry. The classic length to width ratio is approximately 1.00.

Marquise

Marquise is a modified brilliant cut diamond. It is very similar to round and oval shape with two pointed ends. How narrow or fat of a marquise is based on personal preference. The classic length to width ratio is 1.65 -2.25.

Oval

Oval is a modified brilliant cut diamond. It is similar to the round brilliant cut but a narrower and longer version. How narrow or fat of an oval is based on personal preference. The classic length to width ratio is range from 1.30-1.65.

Pear

Pear is modified brilliant cut diamond and teardrop in shape. It is a combination of oval and marquise shape, with a sharp point on one end. The classic pear shape length to width ratio range from 1.30-1.80.

Princess

Princess is a square modified brilliant cut diamond with four sided pyramid shape. It is traditionally a square like diamond, four sides of similar length. Any length to width ratio of 1.05 or less will appear square to the naked eye.

Radiant

Radiant is a cut cornered modified brilliant cut diamond, formed with a mixed cut. It combines the cutting of round and emerald shape. Radiant can be either a square or rectangular shaped. The length to width ratio for a perfect square would be around 1.00 and any ratio of 1.05 or less will appear square to the naked eye. For a more traditional rectangle, ratio can be range from 1.10-1.40.

Trilliant

Trilliant cut is traditional triangular in shape. Trilliant diamond consists of three equal side with pointed corners. The classic length to width ratio is approximately 1.00.
